Thierry Mugler
Thierry Mugler is one of those avant garde fashion designers who creates all sorts of wild and impractical outfits that you're never likely to see outside of the runway. But he gets extra points in my book for having made reality a Sorayama-style gynoid suit sometime in the '90's. (If you're not familiar with the name Sorayama, I'll be writing up an entry on him next.)

I remember seeing the first image above in a magazine years ago, but wasn't really sure what the deal was with the photo. The robot girl quickly grabbed my attention of course, but what's going on in the image? Is she meant to look like she's shocking the girl in front of her, or is the girl's conscious being absorbed into the robot body? (And what's with the exercise equipment?)
I also wondered how much of the suit she was wearing was real, and how much was post-production effects. But thanks to

From The Runway

Of course, nothing would beat seeing it in motion. As it turns out, after doing a Google search on the designer, I discovered entirely by accident a couple of videos on YouTube from the runway showing.
They appear to be from the same presentation of it, but filmed from different angles (one gets closer up to the model, other shows a better view of the whole thing but from further away):
I love how the suit appears to restrict her movements, forcing her to move so mechanically...would be fun. ^_^
