Welcome Message And Introduction

Hello, I am known as K-8 (aka "conscious_object"). Here I keep a fetish blog with a (skewed) sense of humor. Contained herein you will find my various random thoughts on my unique fetishes, and interesting finds culled from all over the intarweb, including art by my friends, and sometimes my own art.

More Puttermans

Thanks to [info]lmcdosman, who had some old VHS tapes with commercials still intact, I think I've finally got all the Puttermans ones. You can see my full list at the bottom of this entry.

Turns out the commercial that I thought the Trish character had more than one line in still had her speaking only one line. But she does get more screen time in this one than in any of the others:

She Dreams In Digital

Well, I dream in High Def, so there.

The video is "Fiction (Dreams In Digital)" by Orgy. The makeup is fairly bare bones, but the arm sleeves she wears look interesting.

I've taken the liberty of uploading a video with all those boring shots of the band taken out.

Waking Up In The Black Lagoon

The same model who did the White Violin body paint shots also did these nice looking creature ones. This shot looks like someone who wasn't expecting to suddenly wake up green:

Puttermans Update

  • Jun. 28th, 2009 at 12:27 PM
Thanks to "rotwang" and "dosman" for pointing me to these, here are some new (old) behind the scenes photos of Krystee Clark as Trish Putterman:

trish-3.1

trish-2 trish-1 trish-5

Also interesting, a photo from one of the earlier makeup tests, showing that originally the character was going to have plastic-y eyebrows to match the hair, which personally I think they should've kept. I love her doll-like smile in this one.

trish-4.2

I've also got six of the commercials on Youtube now. There are still at least two (possibly as many as four) that I still don't have in decent quality. For the sake of being a completist. I know there's at least one (set on a porch swing) where the Trish character actually gets more than just a single speaking line.

CPR Dummy

  • Jun. 14th, 2009 at 9:15 AM
In the category of pure silliness, a medical supplies company hired a freeze model to pretend to be a Resusci Anne / CPR Annie as a promotional gag.

The funniest part? It appears the model's name really is Anne.

Plastic!

mannequin1

mannequin2 The presentation is a little rough...the paint of the molded hair is fading, a bit of the model's real hair is poking out, and they went way too heavy on the eye shadow. But I love how undeniably plastic she looks, otherwise.

The two things that totally make this photo are the plastic eyebrows, and in particular the blank teeth. The bottom of her face, if she were wearing a platinum blond wig, would look just like a Barbie doll. The molded hair and plastic eyebrows on the other hand give a glimpse of what could be a great mannequin makeup. Going further in either direction would be equally fun.

Sadly, I can find no information on the images, other than that this was a student project being shown of at IMATS 2005 (a huge makeup convention). On her chest appears to be written "(c) 2004 Olympus, Inc.," but I can find no Olympus, Inc. that has any reation to makeup or a makeup school.

Heavenly Creatures

Heavenly Creatures is an early film by Peter Jackson, before he did the Lord Of The Rings. It's also Kate Winslet's first film role.

I'd tell you what the movie's about, but it's hard without giving away parts of it. Basically, it's a really bizarre true story about two girls who lost their grasp on the difference between fantasy and reality.

The screenshot above comes from their occasional trips to the fantasy land they created with each other, called the Fourth World (not to be confused with the Jack Kirby comics). I've uploaded a clip of most of the Fourth World bits, but what you watch below might deceive you about the tone of the movie...it's actually much much darker.

Hisss Trailer

  • May. 19th, 2009 at 8:36 AM
A longer, higher quality, and a bit gorier new trailer:

I still think a movie adaptation of that Aladdin episode would've been much more fun, but then I've also never been a huge horror fan. ;-)

There's also this very strange image doing the rounds that reportedly shows what happens if she starts transforming back right after having swallowed someone whole.

Wicked City

  • May. 9th, 2009 at 9:08 PM
You ever have one of those dreams where, upon waking, you're like, "wow, this would make for a fantastic story if I just write it down!" And then later that day, when you start thinking about it more, you realize it didn't really make as much sense as you thought it did at the time? Wicked City, a Hong Kong film from 1992 (not to be confused with the 1989 anime of the same name) is like watching a 90 minute version of one of those dreams.

"Right, so then we drive up to this building, and it looks like time has stopped all around us. We go inside, and fight a flying clock. I turn into a giant knife and defeat it. A woman has melded herself with the building, so we get in an elevator to go to the floor her head is located on, except our elevator starts filling with foam. But Dr. Strange shows up just in time, pulling random motorcycle parts out of the walls and using them to bind the woman into the form of a Giger-esque motorcycle."

wickedcity2 wickedcity3

Below is the video, in case you think I'm exaggerating. I've left in the few scenes leading up to the motorcycle transformation for those who are into timestops (and those who have a fetish for cars covered in cling wrap?).

Also, I'd personally recommend turning the sound completely down, and watching it silent. The sound is extremely distracting, I actually found myself noticing more details in the visuals without it. It's not just the music, but the way their mouths rarely move in synch with what they're saying. Sometimes they'll even be speaking when their mouth is closed, or while licking their lips. You won't be able to understand them anyways, so it's no big loss. (I would've included the subtitles for you as well, but the movie actually seems to make more sense without them. If you really want to know what's being said, I can post a few examples in the comments.)

Not enough weirdness for you? Earlier in the film, she appears to send her essence into a pinball machine, and seems to really get off on having her buttons pushed.

Hisss Update

  • May. 6th, 2009 at 8:28 PM
I guess the upcoming Jennifer Lynch film Hisss was momentarily delayed when Bollywood had their own strike, but now it seems to be moving forward at full speed.

The official website is now online, with a few new images in the background.

A couple "new" pics that appear to be from the same photo shoot as the image I previously posted:

Doll Head

  • Nov. 30th, 2008 at 2:04 PM
This was something sent to me I think the week before Halloween, but I'm a little behind.

dollface_d03

A very convincing toy doll mask. It's too bad it's a broken-toy and dirt-covered one, but I realize most people are looking for scary things when it comes to Halloween. And it's particularly effective if you put black make-up all around your eyes, giving a convincing empty-eye look when your eyes are closed. And the mouth moves with your own. You can see a couple videos of it being worn here.

Now maybe if someone would make a mannequin-head mask out of similar material. ;-)

Sebastian alerted me that they also make some cool webbed-finger sea creature gloves.

Robot Suit

  • Nov. 28th, 2008 at 5:03 PM
About a month ago now, "rotwang" sent me a link to this Japanese blog, where someone was posting some interesting photos of some items they'd constructed. I haven't been in much of a posting mood for awhile, so I put off write about it. But about once a week I'd stop by that blog again, and I'd see even more pictures and think "wow, I'm glad I hadn't posted about it yet!"

But I suppose it's time to finally share with you this cool find. At first it was just a few pictures showing somewhere wearing a not-too-uncommon doll mask (though those eyes look really cool), and some really fascinating-looking gloves that make the fingers look jointed:

I believe my exact reaction was "ooo, I want!"

Then I stopped by later, and there were arms to go with it (with a cool wrist joint there), and the beginnings of legs:

And then, suddenly, a full body:

train1

I was given a heads up by [info]mystifur to a low-budget movie that uses Puttermans-style makeup for a large portion of it. Not as nicely done, but pretty decent considering it being low-budget.

It's a direct-to-DVD movie called Train Quest, which I'm afraid cannot recommend seeing unless you're a huge fan of bad movies. Imagine an hour-long Twilight Zone-style episode (actually 40 minutes without commercials) padded out into a 90 minute B-movie horror movie by adding in numerous scenes with characters having conversations that explain and re-explain to us what has just happened, in case we weren't paying attention. And also, cutting away occasionally to random "Real World"-style interview segments where the character speaks directly to the camera about what is happening.

To make matters worse, the people who've packaged the movie for DVD seem to believe it's actually a family-friendly fantasy/adventure movie. IMDb and RottenTomatoes have both taken their word for it and listed the genre as such. Netflix initially did as well, until they received several complaints from parents who rented it for their young kids who were interested in model trains, and now have it listed as B-movie horror. But still with the the cover above. But still with the hilarious cover for the DVD that does not at all reflect the tone of the movie:

trainquest

For one thing, you won't see that train anywhere in the movie. The actual train they ride is a twisted black thing that looks like it was designed by H.R. Giger. Priceless.

But! The movie does involve a character slowly turning to plastic. Which makes things a little better. The only disappointing thing is that only the lead male changes...the lead female, who gets stuck in the model train world with him, is not affected. Which is just so unfair. Why couldn't their roles have been reversed...or at least both of them been affected, y'know? ;-)

train2

At least there are plastic people of both genders already in the model train world, two of which were always plastic, and one of which was formerly human. Though you just can't beat a nice slow transformation... ;-)

The makeup is, I think, surprisingly decent for such a low-budget film, other than that most of the characters end up having this really weird seam in the middle of their forehead. What's stranger is that sometimes the seam looks like the top half is overlapping the bottom half, and sometimes the bottom half looks like it overlaps the top. No idea what was going on there.

And here's a YouTube video I've put together to show how the makeup looks in motion:

Snakegirl

  • Oct. 5th, 2008 at 12:16 PM
Something sent to my attention by a couple of people now:

mallika-sherawat-nagin2-hisss

This is an early production photo of Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat as a snakegirl in an upcoming movie called Hisss (or Hissss -- there seem to be varying reports on how many letters the title is supposed to have) from director Jennifer Lynch, perhaps best known for her amputation fetish film Boxing Helena. Which I still haven't seen, because while magic-based temporary disappearing limbs can be kind of fun, the surgically-removed variety disturbs way a lot. Not to mention, that I've heard about how frustrating it is to watch, being painfully badly written (even for a fetish story).

So I'm not holding out hope that it's going to be all that great. Especially since Lynch is reportedly taking the stock horror plot of monster-esque creature-woman appears and starts killing people, and is going to do it as a straight up Bollywood musical. I really hope that ends up being incorrect, but that's what I've read.

hissss1
She's going to...sing?

But at least it'll have some cool make-up effects! They've hired long-time make-up artist Robert Kurtzman, and I think these early pics look pretty spectacular. Well, other than the tail above, which for some bizarre reason looks like it was taken straight off of the plastic-y Jabba The Hut that was added into the Special Edition of A New Hope. I don't understand why the stripes on her front just suddenly end at her waist, and then turns into just...plastic Jabba.

I'd say maybe that was just an added in placeholder for the final effects, except I've read several reports about how tough filming has been for the actress, who has to climb into this tight suit and stay in it for 5-8 hours at a time, with no bathroom breaks, and needs the crew to carry her around because she's unable to use her legs while wearing it. Which you just know Lynch is probably totally getting off on. I mean, not that I should talk, y'know...'cause that's kinda hot. ;-) But for all that work put into it, I really hope the bottom half of the suit ends up looking better than...that.

The top half, I think, looks fantastic. I like that it appears she has webbed fingers, which I'm a big fan of. Yeah, I'm weird, whatever.

I think the full-head makeup looks interesting as well, though I prefer my snakegirls with a slightly more human head (and hair) with cool snake eyes, like the very top pic. But it sounds like she'll be appearing in various states of transformation, between completely human and completely snakegirl.

Make-up applications and body-paint? CGI with motion capture? I can't tell for sure.

The countdown has finally ended over at FacelessPeople.com. As predicted, they're simply unveiling a new car. I'd much rather they tell me where I might buy one of those awesome masks! I think it'd be great fun to go out on Halloween as The Question.
